I’ve always loved the kind of mornings that don’t ask you to rush. When the light is soft, the coffee’s brewing, and the day hasn’t quite demanded anything of you yet. There’s something gentle about that stillness, a quiet moment I never want to take for granted, before the list of to-dos finds you.
I’ve learned that slowing down isn’t about doing less, it’s about being fully there in the simple things. Making food from scratch instead of rushing through takeout. Letting the dogs explore the yard while you drink your coffee. Taking the long way home, windows down, breathing in fresh air, waving at the cows in the pasture, and watching the trees sway in the wind.
We live in a world that tells us to hurry, to chase the next big thing, to constantly compare, to always be doing more. But peace doesn’t live in a screen or in the noise. It lives in stillness. It’s found in meals cooked with love, in the laughter of good company, in evenings spent watching the sun dip below the trees while the world softens around you.
The slow life isn’t about perfection, it’s about attention. Paying attention to what truly matters; faith, family, good food, honest work, and the simple beauty of a day done well.
For me, that’s the kind of life I want to build, one rooted in the outdoors, in gratitude, and in God’s goodness. Someday I hope to raise children who know what it means to care for animals, to appreciate the small gifts the Lord places in front of us, and to find joy in simple things. I want them to grow up barefoot in the grass, with dirt under their nails and a deep love for the world God created.
I challenge you to spend one day slowing down. Less scrolling, more sunsets. Less noise, more nature. Mornings that start softly and nights that end in gratitude. Because when you slow down, you start to see how full life already is.
Find peace within yourself, and find someone that brings your life peace. Spend your days loving your people unconditionally. Loving the animals outside that bring life and joy to our world. Loving the food on the table that fills your belly and gives you energy. Be easy and find joy in the little things.
